Our Story
Circalume bridges the gap between high-performance architectural lighting, stringent planning regulations, and environmental responsibility. Operating as an independent technical lighting consultancy, the practice focuses heavily on residential, commercial, Industrial, Heritage and landscape projects, ensuring that lighting installations meet regulatory compliance while preserving the natural environment.

Meet the Team
Mike Eddowes
Design Director
Mike is co-founder of Circalume, bringing 40 years of experience in the lighting industry. Having run Flairlight Designs alongside Jayne for 25 years, he combines technical knowledge with a practical understanding of how lighting schemes are installed, used and maintained.

His experience spans interior and exterior lighting for residential, hospitality, retail and public spaces. At Circalume, he leads lighting design and consultancy, helping clients create spaces that balance visual comfort, character and function.
​
Mike’s work includes lighting strategies, planning support and ecological mitigation, alongside an interest in dark skies and extending the life of existing fittings through thoughtful retrofit. His approach considers where light is needed, how it is controlled and its effect on people and the surrounding environment.

Away from lighting, Mike enjoys the Surrey countryside and a round of golf, usually with the aim of improving his handicap.

Jayne Eddowes
Marketing Director
Jayne is co-founder of Circalume, bringing 25 years of experience running a lighting business alongside Mike, with responsibility for finance, operations and client relationships.

At Circalume, she manages the day-to-day running of the practice, client communications and marketing. She also develops the website and educational content, sharing the importance of thoughtful, responsible lighting with clients and the wider design community.
